Darryl is the Director & Head Trainer of Australian Management & Safety Training.
Darryl is currently a Captain with Queensland Fire & Emergency Service (QFES) in an auxiliary role, which he has been involved with since 2008 and was also a volunteer with the New South Wales Rural Fire Service prior to commencing work in mining.
Darryl is a Diesel Fitter by trade and has an extensive background with more than 30 years’ experience working in industry, including 20 years in mining. He has been involved with Mines Rescue Teams since 2004 and has been both a Rescue Team Member and Captain for Mines Rescue and QFES challenge teams. Darryl trained on mine sites for several years prior to joining Hazeldean Training & Development (HTD) in 2010.
Due to his involvement in emergency services Darryl has been involved in many fire and rescue incidents and sees first-hand the latest up to date procedures and practices for casualty care and incident management. Darryl is also a member of the Australasian Road Rescue Organisation (ARRO). Through Darryl's trade background he also has significant experience and skills in working in different environments including activities such as entering, working in and rescue from Confined Space, Atmospheric Monitoring, and Safe Work at Heights which is conveyed in his training methods.
Tony is the Chief Executive Officer of Hazeldean Training & Development. Tony has an extensive background with over 40 years in the coal mining industry. His experience includes 11 years as a mine deputy, 5 years as an Undermanager and relief Undermanager in charge, 6 years as a Superintendent for Queensland Mines Rescue Service. 4 years’ experience as Training Manager and 9 years open-cut experience including working as an Open Cut Examiner and shot-firer. Tony has over 25 years Underground Mines Rescue experience including rescue involvement in some infamous Queensland underground mine disasters. He also has over 10 years’ experience as an open-cut mines rescue team member.
Tony commenced training in the late seventies as an operator trainer. In the late eighties and early nineties he did some part time teaching for TAFE which Included Advanced Certificate of Mining (Undermanager’s Certificate), Mine Deputies Certificate including Underground Shot firing and Open-Cut Examiner’s Certificate including Surface Shot firing. During his time as a Superintendent with QMRS, Tony trained mines rescue teams, some of which won Australian Championships. Tony commenced business operations in 2003 as a sole trader. In 2005 Tony set up Hazeldean Training & Development Pty Ltd and in 2012 the company became a Registered Training Organisation.
Steve has been with Hazeldean Training and Development since 2012 as a Trainer and Assessor in both Rescue and Safety training.
Steve’s background in the mining industry is in the maintenance and service field for 12 years and was an active Mines Rescue team member for 6 years before joining HTD.
He has also been a Project Manager and Supervisor for contracting companies on mine sites.
With his background Steve brings a range of skills and experience to the training team in areas such as Confined Space, Heights, Fire, Rescue and First Aid.
